What to include
- A clear target or use case.
- Simple categories that match how you actually plan.
- A buffer for forgotten items, changes or uncertainty.
- A printable or reusable output when possible.
Prepare the practical supplies that make packing, moving day and first-night setup less chaotic.
Most planning fails when the page is used only as a list. Turn it into an action: calculate, compare, print, copy or export the result.
Set aside one clearly labeled box before anything else gets packed: phone chargers, toiletries, a change of clothes, basic tools, toilet paper and bedding. This box travels with you (not in the moving truck's depths) so the first night doesn't require digging through unlabeled boxes to find a toothbrush.
A basic tool kit for assembling furniture, toilet paper, hand soap, phone chargers, and bedding — pack these separately from everything else so they're findable without opening every box on night one.
Both — a set for cleaning the old place before final walkthrough (especially if a deposit depends on it), and a separate, accessible set for the new place before unpacking begins.
Packing tape, consistently — plan for more rolls than feels necessary; running out mid-pack on a deadline is a common and avoidable delay.
